Weightlifting exercises can put a lot of strain on your wrist. Beginners or seasoned weightlifters can experience it because some activities can make your wrist bend unnaturally. If you experience a sore wrist, it can be caused by inflammation of tendons, leading to tendinitis in the wrist. In some cases, the cause of wrist pain is due to weightlifting, while in other cases, it means the condition may be chronic and developed over time due to overuse or repetition of hand movements. If you are a weightlifter, you may experience the following:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – It is caused by pressure on a nerve in your palm that can lead to numbness, weakness, and tingling in the fingers.
De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis – It is a painful condition affecting tendons on the thumb side of the wrist. You will experience pain while grasping or making a fist.
ECU – It hurts on the pinky side of the back of the wrist and can be treated with ice and anti-inflammatory medication.
FCR Tendinitis
is an inflammation of the flexor carpi radialis forearm muscles that flex the
wrist on the inside near the thumb.
Intersection Syndrome – It is a type of tenosynovitis resulting in pain to the lower forearm, usually a few inches from the wrist.
Injuries to wrist ligaments (including sprains and strains).
